SOUNDSUS ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") is developed and operated by Andres Rivas. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use SOUNDSUS, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
1. Information We Collect
We collect minimal information needed to run the game:
- Display name — a nickname you type before joining a room. Used only to identify you to players in the same session.
- Room code — the 5-letter code used to join or host a game room.
- Connection metadata — your IP address and Socket.IO connection ID, collected automatically by the server for networking and abuse prevention.
- Gameplay telemetry — minimal event data such as room create/join, round start/complete, reconnects, and reliability diagnostics.
- Moderation reports — if a player reports abuse, we store a report record (time, room code, reason, hashed player identifiers).
We do not collect: real names, email addresses, phone numbers, account credentials, location data, device or advertising identifiers, payment information, health or biometric data, contacts, photos, or any files from your device.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Connect you to a game room and show your name to other players in that room
- Route real-time game events (song playback, voting, results) to the correct players
- Detect and remove stale or disconnected sessions
- Prevent abuse and maintain service reliability
- Measure aggregate funnel and reliability metrics (for example reconnect success rate and round completion rate)
3. Legal Bases (EEA / UK)
- Contract performance — providing the game service you requested
- Legitimate interests — security, abuse prevention, and diagnostics
- Legal obligation — where required by applicable law
4. Data Retention
All session data (display name, room state, player list) exists only in server memory for the duration of the game session. It is never written to a database or persistent storage. When a room ends, times out (3-hour maximum), or the server restarts, all session data is deleted automatically. Server access logs and first-party telemetry may be retained for up to 30 days for security, moderation, and reliability analysis.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your information with any third party for commercial purposes. Your display name is visible only to players in the same active room. We may share limited technical data with infrastructure providers (hosting, DDoS protection) solely to operate the service.
6. Audio Content
SOUNDSUS streams audio clips to your device during gameplay. These clips are served from our server. The App does not record, capture, or transmit any audio from your device's microphone and does not request microphone permissions.
7. Children's Privacy
SOUNDSUS is rated 4+ and appropriate for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the App requires no registration and retains no persistent identifying data, it is designed to be safe for all players. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will remove it promptly.
8. Third-Party Services
SOUNDSUS does not integrate third-party advertising or behavioral tracking SDKs (no Google Analytics, Facebook Ads SDK, or similar). Product telemetry is processed on our own server. If enabled by configuration, we may use Sentry for crash diagnostics (error stack traces and technical device/app metadata) to improve reliability.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of your data, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because SOUNDSUS stores no persistent personal data after a session ends, most requests are automatically satisfied. For any concerns, contact us below.
10. International Transfers
Our server is hosted in the European Union. If you access the service from outside the EU, your connection data may be processed in the EU. By using the service you consent to this.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. Updates will be posted at this URL with a revised date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
